A Patriotic Bunch

Before I'd even started watching the video for my monthly class (Kit & Clowder) I wanted to colour up Power Poppy's gorgeous 'Tulips in Hobnail Pitcher' for their 'Get Krafty' challenge.
I never colour with pencils, so this was a great challenge to try. I didn't actually plan to go with patriotic colours for this image, but I used the Lyra Super Ferby pencils I bought for my husband. There's only 18 colours in this set, so not a lot to choose from! My flowers and leaves are all coloured using two shades so I at least get some light and dark.  For the pitcher I used gold and silver to get a bit of texture.

Other products used:
  • Kraft card blank
  • Papermania 'Portobello Road' Designer Die Cut, Clear Stamp, Ribbon & Bow
  • Buttons
  • 3D foam pads

Siren's Call

Mitzi's 'Siren' image definitely called to me... I had to have her! She's so sultry and mysterious and I love the sketchy look.  There's a Crop It theme at Aurora Wings Challenge Blog right now so I thought I would do something different. I have done triple-stamping with rubber before, but never with a digital image.  I digitally cropped the image a couple of times then printed out three images, one being full size.  I coloured the background of the full size image, left the middle image black and white and fully coloured the smallest image to give more impact to the cropping. I matted on black for further emphasis before gluing all the layers together.
Products used:
  • Turquoise & black cardstock
  • Cheesecloth
  • Hemp twine
  • Shell charm
  • ProMarkers - Cool Aqua, Powder Blue, Moss, Khaki, Pastel Beige, Satin, Hot Pink, Holly, Lush Green, Spice, Apricot, Oatmeal, Burnt Orange, Peach, Warm Grey 1-3 & Tea Green

Rockabilly Birthday

I've had some Hannah Lynn freebie images for a while and not coloured them up, but a certain Mr.Kenny Kiernan's birthday was coming and gave me the perfect excuse to colour this gorgeous 'Rockabilly' image (from the Tattoo Darlings colouring book).  I happen to know that both Kenny and Elena are big fans of Hannah Lynn (Elena has already told me that she's stealing this card for her office!!).
I've coloured her in bright, bold tones to reflect the style of the image and to make the tattoos stand out, and teamed her with some camo paper and star eyelets to complete the look.

Steampunk Slinging & Shaking

How many times have I coloured up an image, then put it in my folder and it's just sat there for who knows how long?!  Sometimes I think it's just waiting for the right inspiration to happen before I actually make a card. This time it was Alyce at Kit & Clowder who gave me some inspiration. She's been making shaker cards to go with the last monthly class images. I haven't made a shaker for ages, so I immediately made a couple.  Not wanting to let shakers sit like I do with images, I thought of the perfect coloured image straight away and got a card made.
The image I have used is the very awesome 'Lahla Steampunk Gunslinger' from Faery Ink. I am quite addicted to Amanda's images and they are often my naughty impulse buys! As she's a Steampunk Faery I had to add a bit of electricity to her wings.

  • Cuttlebug Embossables acetate
  • Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Walnut Stain

Once Upon A Time at Ching-Chou Kuik

I couldn't resist joining in the Ching-Chou Kuik Facebook challenge this month. The theme is 'Once Upon A Time' so we'd love to see your story-inspired makes.

One of my favourite books as a child was 'The Worst Witch' by Jill Murphy and I actually still have my original copy! I'm very precious about books, so it's in great condition.  I did give it to my niece along with all my other childhood books but now she's a teenager and I have my own children, my sister gave them all back to me.

I have used 'Big Pumpkin' to make a pop-up card for my inspiration.  I made one of these last Halloween and I really love the design.  It can be given as a card, or if you're like me and can't bear to part with it, used as a decoration!

Products used:
  • Papermania cardstock
  • Recollections 'Ravenshead Manor' laser cut card
  • Recollections spooky house sticker
  • Graphic 45 'Steampunk Spells' and 'Once Upon An Eerie Tale' embellishments and papers
  • Papermania black gems
  • Twine
  • Tonic Tim Holtz paper distresser
  • ProMarkers - Cinnamon, Tan, Dusky Pink, Satin, Umber, Burnt Sienna, Henna, Raw Sienna, Apricot, Black, Cool Grey 1, 2, 4 & 5, Warm Grey 3, 4 & 5, Aegean, Sky Blue, Sunkissed Pink, Cocoa, Pumpkin, Gold, Sunflower, Tulip, Bright Orange & Amber
  • White Sakura Gelly Roll

These pop-ups do fold flat for posting (I had to hold it down for the photograph as it doesn't stay unless in an envelope!)

I am entering my card into the following challenges:

  2. Pammie's Inky Pinkies - #1735 Anything Goes
  3. Crafty Gals Corner - #138 Anything Goes
